The Second Week

I imagine the next several blog entries will mostly be pictures of Ellie. That's what seems to be flashing through my mind whether I'm at home or at work. I'll augment those with reflections of new Daddyhood.

It's definitely less boring than I thought, although I do get slightly frustrated sometimes that I can't give her the one thing that she needs when she's unhappy (breast milk). It becomes a double whammy when the one thing JooYeon needs is sleep and I can't do anything about that either if Ellie needs to feed. So I'm powerless with my two main women. At least I can always eat lots of rice and please my third woman (my mother-in-law, who is now living with us for three months).

That said, these frustrations are more than balanced out by the beauty of holding Ellie, or of watching JooYeon hold her, and seeing all her (Ellie's) facial expressions.

It was a momentous occasion yesterday when we had a doctor's visit and found out Ellie was back up to birth weight. All these little goals and obstacles that I had never heard of before...

Skin-to-skin. Daddy's equivalent of feeding time. Except that, if it IS feeding time, skin-to-skin with Daddy turns disastrous.

And the full body shot of Ellie's favorite pose (although her legs are usually tucked up and crossed).
